Farmer’s school established in Baitadi to promote climate-friendly agriculture
Baitadi: A farmer’s school has been established in Bachkot, Sigas Rural Municipality-1, Baitadi. The school has been set up to educate farmers about agricultural systems in the field.
Project Chief Bhupal Bohara informed that a climate-friendly farmer’s school has been operated under the Empowerment of Women Entrepreneurs through Sustainable Income Project.
He said the school will provide advice to farmers related to vegetable farming and help increase production by adopting methods of disease and pest control. It is said that it will be easier for farmers as agricultural technicians will go to the fields, conduct experimental planting, and provide training.
Earlier, farmer’s schools were also operated in Surnaya Rural Municipality and Patan Municipality under this project.
It is stated that farmer’s schools are being run to control diseases and pests in vegetable farming through alternative methods, thereby reducing the use of chemical pesticides.
Ward Chairman of Sigas-1, Ramchandra Air, who participated in the program inaugurated in Bachkot today, said that this project has played an important role in the economic transformation of women.
