Dhangadhi: With the establishment of Area Administration Offices in Doti and Bajura districts, local citizens are expected to receive fast, easy and accessible government services at their doorstep. The new offices are expected to reduce the long-standing requirement for residents of remote areas to travel to district headquarters for services such as citizenship and land-related work.

An Area Administration Office has been established in BP Nagar, Badikedar Rural Municipality-1, Doti. The office was inaugurated amid a ceremony by Ministry of Home Affairs spokesperson and Joint Secretary Ananda Kafle. The service was formally launched by issuing a citizenship certificate to local resident Sobita Bohara.

This is the first time such services have been delivered through an Area Administration Office in Doti district. It is estimated that more than 42,000 residents of Jorayal and Badikedar Rural Municipalities, as well as wards 1, 2 and 3 of Bogtan Phudsil Rural Municipality, will directly benefit from the office. Speaking at the inauguration, Joint Secretary Kafle said the office was established with the objective of delivering services in a faster and more convenient manner to citizens.

Similarly, an Area Administration Office has also been established in Kolti, Budhinanda Municipality-2 in the northern region of Bajura. The office was inaugurated by Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Kali Prasad Parajuli, according to the District Administration Office, Bajura.

With the establishment of the Kolti office, residents of Himali, Jagannath, Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality and Budhinanda Municipality will find it easier to access government services, including citizenship and land-related work. Previously, locals had to spend around Rs 1,500 in transport to reach the district headquarters Martadi, along with Rs 20,000 to 25,000 on food and accommodation.

Due to distance and cost, many residents in remote areas were unable to access citizenship and land-related services on time. Local representatives, civil society members and intellectuals had long been demanding the establishment of an Area Administration Office in Kolti, which was approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs in response to that demand.

According to Bajura Chief District Officer Dorendra Niraula, a land revenue and survey service center has also been jointly operated along with the Area Administration Office in Kolti. He said that service delivery has already begun despite limited human resources.

With the establishment of these Area Administration Offices, residents of remote areas in Doti and Bajura have expressed hope that access to government services will now become significantly easier.
