Kathmandu: Nepal Oil Corporation has once again increased the prices of petroleum products.

Citing fluctuations in the international market, the corporation revised the prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene, cooking LPG, and aviation fuel with effect from 12:00 today. The decision was made by a meeting of the corporation’s board of directors.

According to the new rates, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs 17 per litre, while diesel and kerosene have gone up by Rs 25 per litre each. Similarly, the price of cooking LPG has been raised by Rs 100 per cylinder, and aviation fuel (domestic) has been increased by Rs 6 per litre.

With the latest adjustment, the price of petrol in the Kathmandu Valley has reached Rs 219 per litre, while diesel and kerosene now cost Rs 207 per litre. Cooking LPG is priced at Rs 2,010 per cylinder, and aviation fuel (domestic) has been fixed at Rs 257 per litre.

The government stated that the price hike was necessary as losses continued despite a 50 percent reduction in customs duty and infrastructure development tax. The corporation estimates that it will still incur a loss of around Rs 7.81 billion on a fortnightly basis even after the latest increase.
