Ballot papers delivered, security mobilized for elections in Sudurpaschim

Mahendranagar: Preparations for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21 are in full swing in Sudurpaschim Province. Security personnel have been deployed across the province’s 16 constituencies, and the transportation and delivery of ballot papers to election officers’ offices have been completed.

Premraj Bhatta, Chief of the Provincial Election Office in Dhangadhi, stated that ballot papers have been delivered to election officers’ offices in all districts under the protection of the Nepal Army. “Work is ongoing to transport 51 types of election materials to the election offices,” Bhatta said. He added that training programs for polling officers and assistant officers, including recruitment and orientation, have already been conducted in Kailali.

Efforts to mobilize security forces for election duty are also underway. Deputy Inspector General of Police Om Rana, Chief of the Sudurpaschim Province Police Office, stated that additional police personnel have been deployed in the hilly districts. “Police forces, including the election police, are actively ensuring that elections are conducted in a peaceful environment,” he said.

Across the Far West Province, more than 7,500 police officers from the Nepal Police and 5,000 personnel from the Armed Police Force have been deployed. The Nepal Army has also stepped up its operations, taking responsibility for airport and prison security during the election period.
