Press Chautari Kailali launches journalist endowment fund, honors journalists Savad and Shahi

Dhangadhi: Press Chautari Nepal Kailali has established the Journalist Endowment Fund on the occasion of its 28th foundation day, aiming to provide support to journalists facing problems, accidents, and health crises.

The fund was formally announced during the foundation day program with an initial collection of Rs 150,000 from affiliated journalists and contributions from various members of the social sector. CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Lekhraj Bhatta, the chief guest of the program, officially inaugurated the Endowment Fund.

Press Chautari Kailali Chairman Janak Singh Bista stated that the interest earned from the fund will be utilized to support journalists in need without touching the principal amount. Assistance will also be extended to the spouses or children of journalists in cases of accidents or illness. Chairman Bista called on everyone to contribute to further increase the fund.

During the program, journalist Lila Jung Shahi was honored with the Chakra Dagaura Memorial Journalism Award along with a cash prize, while journalist Kamal Savad received the Youth Talent Award, introduced this year as an annual recognition.

Additionally, a souvenir of Press Chautari Nepal Sudurpaschim Province was released. Kanchanpur and Bajura districts were recognized as the best districts, and three journalists were honored in various categories. The program was attended by CPN-UML Deputy Secretary General Lekhraj Bhatta, Press Chautari Sudurpaschim In-charge Dil Bahadur Chhatyal, CPN-UML central members Lila Bhandari and Santosh Sharma Thapa, Sudurpaschim Province Secretary Ran Bahadur Chand, Deputy Secretary Bhagarathi Bista, and Press Chautari Kailali President Yagyaraj Dhungana, among others.
