Far west records over 17 lakhs voters across nine districts
Dhangadhi: The Far West Province has 16 constituencies of the House of Representatives spread across nine districts. According to the 2078 BS census, the total population of the province has reached 2,694,783, while the total number of registered voters stands at 1,716,660, as per data from the Provincial Election Office.
Including newly added voters, Kailali district has the highest number of voters at 551,052. It is followed by Kanchanpur with 314,385 voters and Achham with 165,337 voters. In terms of House of Representatives constituencies, Kailali has five constituencies, Kanchanpur has three and Achham has two.
Similarly, there are 93,403 voters in Dadeldhura, 156,372 in Baitadi, 92,948 in Darchula, 128,399 in Doti, 126,903 in Bajhang and 87,861 in Bajura. This information was provided by Premraj Bhatta, Chief of the Provincial Election Office, Kailali.
In the House of Representatives elections held three years ago, the Nepali Congress won eight seats, the then Civil Liberation Party secured three seats, the CPN (Unified Socialist Party) won three seats, and the CPN (UML) claimed two seats. In the new political environment following the Genji Movement, the House of Representatives elections are scheduled to be held on Falgun 21, 2082 BS.
