Sudurpaschim Provincial Ministries transfer employees amid rush for preferred offices
Dhangadhi: Today marks the last day for employee transfers across Sudurpaschim Provincial Government ministries. According to the amendment to Rule 46 of the Sudurpaschim Provincial Civil Service Regulations, 2081, employee transfers are scheduled to be completed today.
The transfer date for the fiscal year 2082/83 was set for Kartik 25 following the regulatory amendment. The Chief Minister’s Office has already processed transfers, stating that employees due for transfer—excluding office assistants and drivers in other provincial ministries—will be reassigned.
Provincial ministries are transferring employees from assistant fourth to officer eighth levels. However, sources indicate that employees have been lobbying extensively to secure placements in offices perceived as more resourceful and prestigious. Many have sought transfers to offices with higher development budgets.
There is significant pressure from employees seeking transfers to offices in Kailali and Kanchanpur. Some employees reportedly leveraged political and personal connections to secure placements in coveted offices. According to one employee from the accounting group, top preferences include the Provincial Infrastructure Development Office, Drinking Water, Underground Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division, Fisheries Development Center, Provincial Ayurveda Hospital, and Mohana Irrigation Project Office. Competition is reportedly high between employees aligned with the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML.
Employees lacking political or personal access expressed frustration, noting that those with connections are using influence to secure their preferred transfers. Many admitted that lobbying ministers, leaders, and higher-level employees has become a key strategy to obtain postings in desired offices.
