Kailali prison incident: Seven prisoners transferred across province

Dhangadhi: The Kailali prison administration has transferred seven prisoners involved in the recent prison incident, officials confirmed.

In addition, 18 prisoners have been relocated to various districts across Sudurpaschim Province. On the night of August 23, a violent incident occurred at the prison during a basketball game involving 48 prisoners, resulting in the death of one woman.

Jailer Chiranjivi Sapkota stated that prisoners who have recovered after treatment have been transferred, while one individual has been released after completing their sentence. The prison administrator reported that six prisoners each have been sent to Kanchanpur and Dadeldhura, and five each to Naubasta and Banchi in Banke. Additionally, three prisoners were sent to Doti, three to Bajhang, and one to Nawalparasi.

Currently, 18 prisoners remain awaiting transfer. One of them, a woman, said, “From now on, treatment is being provided at the provincial hospital.”
