52 families displaced as Jogbuda river floods settlements in Kanchanpur

Kanchanpur: At least 52 families have been displaced after the Jogbuda River flooded settlements in Kanchanpur.

The displaced residents have been relocated to safer locations, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sagar Bohar of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur. A total of 70 people from 25 houses in Rampure Island of Dodhara Chandani Municipality-8 have been shifted to Janata Secondary School, Deurali. Likewise, 10 to 15 people from 15 families in Ward No. 3, Paterakhalla, have been relocated to Jamuna Basic School, Jamunaghari, while 40 people from 12 houses in Ward No. 10, Kantitol, are currently staying at Ambika Secondary School. All displaced individuals are reported to be safe.

Meanwhile, the water level in the Mahakali River continues to rise, reaching 162,000 cusecs, DSP Bohar said. Authorities have imposed a ban on four-wheeled vehicle movement at the Sharda Barrage once the water level crosses 100,000 cusecs.
