20 houses in Bajura’s Talgaun at high risk of landslides
Bajura: Continuous rainfall has triggered landslides in Talgaun of Badimalika Municipality-7, putting the entire settlement at risk.
According to Ward Chairman Dharmaraj Padhyay, 20 houses in the village are under threat after a landslide began from the base of Talgaun following heavy rains on Bhadra 20. “Eight of the 20 houses require immediate relocation,” he said.
A monitoring team led by Chairman Padhyay on Friday concluded that 20 families are at risk, with eight families needing urgent resettlement. Monitoring team member and ward representative Parbati Joshi confirmed the findings.
The District Disaster Management Committee, Bajura, reported that 53 other settlements across the district are also at high risk of landslides.
