‘Ujyalo Dasharathchand’ program launched to illuminate public spaces in Baitadi
Baitadi: Dasharathchand Municipality has launched the ‘Ujyalo Dasharathchand’ program to brighten public spaces in the district headquarters.
Under the initiative, 72 bulbs have been installed in the main markets of Gothalapani, Gadhi, and Shahilek with technical support from the Nepal Electricity Authority Baitadi Distribution Center and financial support from the municipality, according to Information Officer Raj Bahadur Bista.
Mayor Pushkar Raj Joshi Lakhkhabhai inaugurated the program by switching on the lights at the Electricity Authority office. The initiative is part of the municipality’s policy program aimed at lighting public places and temples. A budget of Rs 999,735 was allocated for the program in fiscal year 2081/82, with an additional Rs 1 million earmarked for the current fiscal year.
Mayor Joshi informed that markets and public areas including Dehimandau, Musyachaur, and Jhulaghat will be illuminated this year, with the campaign expected to gradually cover all public places within the municipality. He further stated that national transmission lines will be used in areas with electricity access, while solar lights will be installed in locations without electricity.
The municipality believes the ‘Ujyalo Dasharathchand’ campaign will enhance both the beauty and safety of markets and public spaces.
