Dhangadhi- As the festive season approaches, border crossings in Far West Nepal are experiencing a surge of returning domestic workers from various Indian cities.

According to the Sudurpaschim Province Emergency Management Center, approximately 1,000 workers are entering the region daily. Today alone, 813 individuals crossed into Far West from India. The busiest point was the Gauriphanta border in Kailali, with 365 returnees, while the Pulghat border in Darchula recorded the fewest with only 30.

Other significant crossings included Gaddachouki in Kanchanpur with 307 returnees, Zhulaghat in Baitadi with 35, and Khakarula Health Desk with 76. In light of the increased traffic, multiple security agencies—including the Armed Police, Customs Office, Nepal Police, Indian Customs, and Border Security Force (SSB)—are actively monitoring the Trinagar border area to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.

A help desk has been established at the Trinagar crossing to streamline the flow of travelers. The Nepal Police has set up a passenger assistance room, while the Armed Police is providing civilian support. Authorities are conducting thorough checks on laborers returning from India to maintain order during this busy period.
