Dhangadhi – Kamal Bahadur Shah is set to return as the Chief Minister of Far West Province, following a decisive meeting by the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party.

The meeting, attended by Congress MP Geeta Chaudhary, concluded with the decision to form the government under Shah's leadership. Shah, the party leader, has formally submitted his claim to the provincial chief.

The reshuffling comes in the wake of Chief Minister Dirgha Bahadur Sodari's resignation, following his speech in the Provincial Assembly. In response, Provincial Chief Minister Nazir Mian called for submissions for the new government by 5 p.m. on Sunday. Several candidates were in the running for the position, including Provincial Assembly members Bahadur Singh Thapa, Diwan Singh Bista, and Prakash Bahadur Deuba.

However, Shah, a former Chief Minister, emerged as the consensus candidate, securing his return to office. Shah, who previously resigned on Chaitra 22 due to shifting political dynamics, led the provincial government for 14 months.

His reappointment marks his second tenure as Chief Minister, signaling continuity and stability for the province's leadership under the Nepali Congress party. The decision underscores the party's confidence in Shah's leadership amidst the evolving political landscape of Far West Province.
