Dhangadhi: In a decisive move, the Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan municipality has demolished a building housing a church that was constructed without proper authorization.

The structure, located in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-7 and built by Late Main Dhangadhi Pvt Ltd and Nepal Life Word Mission, was torn down on Tuesday. The municipality officials justified the demolition by stating that the building violated local construction standards.

The two-storied structure, which was being used as a church and had cost two crores to build, was found to be in breach of regulations. In addition to the demolition, the Ward Office No. 7 took further action by canceling the registrations of Late Main Dhangadhi Pvt Ltd and Nepal Life Word Mission.

Late Main Dhangadhi Pvt Ltd had registered on Shrawan 22, 2080 B.S., aiming to provide vocational training and consulting services. Similarly, Nepal Life Word Mission registered on Baisakh 16, 2081 B.S., for conducting seminars and training sessions.

The registrations were annulled following the discovery of the church building, which was not disclosed during the registration process. The authorities had previously arrested three individuals in connection with the unauthorized construction.
