Dhangadhi Introduces GPS-Connected City Bus Service to Link Rural Areas
Dhangadhi – In a significant move to connect rural areas with the city, the Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city has launched a city bus service equipped with GPS and other modern facilities.
The initiative aims to provide a sustainable and accessible transportation solution for residents. The city has purchased six buses for this project. Bids for bus operation have already been invited. Initially, the city bus service will run from Phulbari Bus Park in Ward 19 to Dhangadhi Shahid Gate.
"If the city bus service is successful on the Phulbari-Dhangadhi-Sahid Gate route, it will be extended to rural areas, including Urma," said Mayor Gopal Hamal. "We are working to ensure easy access to schools, colleges, hospitals, and markets for rural residents, and to facilitate the transport of agricultural produce to the market.
Enhanced Safety and Accessibility Features Each bus is equipped with CCTV cameras for passenger and luggage safety, GPS systems to track the bus location in real-time, and fire extinguishers for emergency situations.
A bell system is also installed for drivers to signal stops. The buses are painted green to promote environmental friendliness and are adorned with posters and paintings reflecting local religious sites and cultural identities.
This initiative is part of a broader plan to enhance the cultural visibility of the area, according to Deputy Mayor Kandakalakumari Rana. Future Expansion Plans Mayor Hamal indicated that, contingent on the success of the initial phase, the service will expand from Kailari Rural Municipality to Attaria in Godawari.
This expansion aims to offer cheap, easy, and accessible transport services to more rural areas. The introduction of this city bus service is a significant step towards improving the quality of life for rural residents by providing reliable transportation to essential services and markets.
