Dhangadi: A one-day Training of Trainers (ToT) on Career Guidance Counseling for school teachers was successfully held in Dhangadi, bringing together 26 educators from both community and private schools. The program was organized by Skill Lab under the CG-ENSSURE project, with the goal of empowering teachers to become career guidance focal persons within their respective institutions.

Hosted by Balimiki International School, the training witnessed active participation and logistical support from the school’s leadership. Principal Dronashish Neupane, who also took part in the training, expressed his commitment to institutionalizing career guidance at his school by appointing a CG focal teacher and designating a space for a dedicated Career Guidance Unit on campus.

The training engaged teachers in in-depth sessions on topics such as understanding the skills required to become a career guidance counselor at eh school level, mapping of career discovery pathways mapping, and tools for conducting CG sessions at the school level, including digitization. The participants included several senior educators and former principals, reflecting a strong collective will to advance the discourse of student-centric guidance and counseling in the region.

Speaking at the closing, organizers emphasized that the trained teachers are now expected to lead career guidance orientations in their own schools, gradually laying the foundation for sustainable guidance services that address the aspirations of both students and out-of-school youth.

This initiative is part of the CG-ENSSURE (Career Guidance – Enhanced Skills for Sustainable and Rewarding Employment) project supported by Helvetas Nepal, and governed by the overall Government of Nepal mandate to reduce unemployment in the country. The project aims to integrate career guidance across Nepal’s education system, especially in public schools, by training teachers, setting up Career Guidance Units, and ensuring youth make informed choices about their futures.

At the Meet & Greet event, that saw top-level educators, decision-makers, local business leaders, entrepreneurs, and Employment Service Coordinators of neighboring municipalities attend, the team from Skill Lab demonstrated how their advanced technology platform is transforming the career guidance and education-to-work transition in the country and SE Asia. Notable attendees included Keshab Pandey, President, Hotel Association, Kailali, Shivkumar Phulan, Kailali Chamber of Commerce, Rabi Tamang, Dhangadi Sub-Metropolitan City, and Dinesh Raj Bhandari, Chairman, Balmiki International School. Skill Lab’s AI-powered digital platform is already operational in Nepal, Phillipines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore through government-level and private institutional partnerships.
