Lockdown Persists at Sudurpaschim University Service Commission Office in Kanchanpur
Kanchanpur: The deadlock continues at the Sudurpaschim University Service Commission office as the premises remain locked, marking a standstill in operations.
The Angik campus has been under lock and key for approximately two months, a result of demands for faculty-to-staff adjustments. Since Magh 8th, the Sudurpaschim University Faculty Association, Staff Association, and Adjustment Struggle Committee have jointly enforced the lock, insisting on the completion of adjustment processes across all 15 campuses officially designated.
Tensions escalated further when the service commission initiated the adjustment process exclusively for Kailali Multipurpose Campus, prompting the lockout. The administration finds itself at odds with both the staff and faculty unions, facing a complete shutdown from service commission officials to administrative functions.
Ram Bahadur Chand, President of the Employees' Union, underscored the reluctance of the Service Commission to implement decisions ratified by the Senate, exacerbating the ongoing dispute.
While the professors' association advocates for a simultaneous adjustment process across all 15 campuses, the service commission's unilateral action of initiating adjustments for one campus has sparked protests. The staff union contends that prioritizing the adjustment of a single campus over comprehensive, simultaneous adjustments is unjustifiable.
The impasse has effectively halted the recruitment process for candidates who have already undergone examinations since the commencement of professorial advertisements. Additionally, the Mahendranagar Bench of the High Court in Dipayal has issued an interim order, halting the adjustment process for Kailali Multipurpose Campus.
In response, agitating staff and professors have filed a case challenging the adjustment protocol, further prolonging resolution as the legal proceedings remain pending.
