Kailali: The much-anticipated Far-west Provincial Festival commenced with grandeur at Lamital Complex in Attariya, Kailali. The inauguration ceremony was conducted by former Minister and Member of the House of Representatives, Bir Bahadur Balayar. The festival, now in its eighth edition, commenced with the traditional Prabhatpheri, where the vibrant art and culture of the Far West region encircled the bustling bazaar.

A total of 150 stalls were meticulously set up for the festival, all of which were fully booked, as reported by the Attariya Industry and Commerce Association. Alongside the festivities, an infrastructure for a fun fair was arranged to enhance the overall experience. Just like in previous years, Lamital will host boat arrangements, adding a distinctive touch to the festivities.

This year's festival introduced a dedicated stage for the Tharu village exhibition, creating a mini-festival within the larger celebration. The Tharu village exhibition boasts 10 stalls, a Tharu museum, and various captivating performances on stage. Organizers proudly shared that the Tharu Museum inside the exhibition showcases an impressive collection of over 150 mythological items.

For festival attendees, the entrance fee is Rs 100 for general admission and Rs 50 for students. A considerate touch has been added with free entry for the disabled and senior citizens. Highlighting the commitment to local talent, 75 percent of the participating artists hail from the Far West region. In a gesture of recognition, prizes have been allocated for the best dancing student groups, with the first-place group receiving Rs 11,111, the second-place group receiving Rs 6,111, and the third-place group receiving Rs 4,111.

Organizers have also ensured fair compensation for the local dance performances scheduled throughout the festival. Six clubs have been contracted to deliver captivating dance performances, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the Sudurpaschim Provincial Festival.
