Law Enforcement Retrieves Smuggled Goods, Cracking Down on Customs Evasion in Kailali and Kanchanpur
Kailali: In a targeted operation against customs evasion, authorities have successfully seized illicit goods in both Kailali and Kanchanpur districts. The seized items, valued at approximately 65,760 rupees, were intercepted in Krishnanagar, Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city of Kailali, having been unlawfully transported from India, evading the due customs process.
Police reports indicate that the confiscated goods include tobacco, sugar, soda, rice, and various other items, all contributing to the mentioned total value. Concurrently, another operation in Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city, specifically in the area of Old Customs Road, resulted in the confiscation of goods worth 49,500 rupees. The recovered items include capsicum, green peas, onions, lemons, among others, that were being transported without adhering to customs regulations, as reported by the Kailali District Police Office.
Meanwhile, in Kanchanpur, sugar valued at approximately 4,250 rupees was discovered and seized from Dodhara Chandni Municipality 1, specifically in the Chakki Market area. The goods were found abandoned, prompting a police patrol team to take swift action, recovering the items on Wednesday evening, according to the District Police Office in Kanchanpur. These decisive actions underscore the commitment to curbing illegal trade practices and upholding customs regulations in the region.
