Dhangadhi: There is a lack of information and skills among those who go for foreign employment in the Far West. As most of the workers are unskilled, they have to do risky work. A study conducted by the Safe Migration Program (SAMI) has shown that people going for foreign employment have to suffer because they do not know about the destination country's climate, rules and laws, working environment and culture.

Unskilled workers are the largest number of those who go abroad in search of work from the Far West. Therefore, Deepak Bohra, program coordinator of the Safe Migration Program (SAMI), said that there is a need for the local government to create a learning environment for those who go for foreign employment.

Most of the workers who go for foreign employment from the Far West are unskilled. Although the trained and skilled workers have good salary facilities and there is no risk, young people from here go to foreign jobs without any skills and training, he said, "The young people who go to foreign jobs are unskilled and have to do risky work."

Similarly, if you are ignorant of the laws of the destination country, you have to face legal problems, and if you live in the destination country without obtaining a work permit, you also have to face problems. Foreign employment would be secured if at least basic training could be provided.' Studies have shown that young people who go for foreign employment face various challenges and problems at home and abroad.

Stakeholders have said that after paying the amount, they cannot go to the destination country for a long time. In the same way, there are problems in not getting a good job in the destination country, closing of the company, health treatment and legal treatment.

Chief Superintendent of Police Devendra Bahadur Pal of District Police Office Kailali said that after returning from foreign employment, some people face family problems. There is a problem of not being able to earn a good income due to having to go to foreign employment as an unskilled worker. Skilled workers can get low-risk jobs and earn good incomes, but the government has not been able to provide training and teach them skills even though they have encouraged them to go to foreign jobs.

Stakeholders have said that the local government can do effective work in teaching skills. Kandakala Kumari Rana, Deputy Head of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City, said that instead of providing training to go abroad, the local level should create an environment for self-employment within the country. "Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city has put forward a plan to transfer and refine local skills in the wards with the aim of creating self-employment by providing vocational training," he said.
