Poultry farmers of Belauri and Punarwas start border patrolling

Dhangadhi: Poultry farmers of Kanchanpur's Belauri and Punarwas have started joining the border patrol. After more than 8 quintals of illegal chickens were imported from India every day, the farmers of the area have themselves engaged in border security.
Bikram Chand, the coordinator of the Struggle Committee, informed that the poultry farmers formed the Belauri-Punarwas Joint Chicken Struggle Committee and started patrolling the border in groups of 40 to 60 people daily to control illegal chickens in the Nepal-India border area. Chand said that although there are 150 poultry farmers in Bailauri and Punarwas, now only 100 farmers are active in this business because of the illegal poultry imported from India on a daily basis.

Poultry farmers of the Belauri resettlement area said that after the increase in illegal chicken imports from India, the poultry farmers themselves have started patrolling the border area from 8 pm to 7 am. Chand, the coordinator of the Struggle Committee, said that after the locals started patrolling the border area at night, there was a decrease in illegal chicken import. He also said that he has handed over the illegally seized chickens to the police.
