More than 400 tremors jolts the Far-West
Dhangadhi: Since the earthquake on Tuesday night, there have been more than 400 aftershocks in the Far-West. Since Tuesday, the state has continuously experienced aftershocks.
On Tuesday evening at 9:07, Doti had an earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale, 4.1 on the Richter scale at 9:56, and 6.6 on the Richter scale. According to Mukund Bhattarai, a seismologist at the National Earthquake Measurement and Research Center, there have been more than 400 aftershocks since that time.
Bajhang experienced a 5.4-magnitude earthquake on Saturday night. He claimed that Nepal is in an area that is prone to earthquakes, particularly in the western region, where there hasn't been a significant earthquake in a while and the risk is therefore high. According to numerous studies, a significant earthquake struck the western region in the year 1505 of Bikram Samvat. However, the number of Richter scale earthquakes that occurred is unknown because measurements had not yet been initiated at that time.
Despite the absence of a significant earthquake in the western region, according to seismologist Bhattarai, there may be high seismic risk. According to him, there is a chance that the power that has built up in the western region would either evaporate or not after the current aftershock or minor earthquake. He claimed that due to the significant possibility of earthquakes, precautions must be taken.
