People of the Far West show support for Dr Govinda KC
Dhangadhi: Dr. Govinda KC has been on a hunger stike in Dhangadhi demanding improvement in medical education and health sector. The people of Dhangadhi expressed solidarity with Govind KC's hunger strike.
Dr. KC is on a hunger strike for the 20th time. The society expressed solidarity by demonstrating in Dhangadhi to press for the protection of KC's life and to address the demands raised by him. Educationists, Doctors and various people including Hemraj Pant were present.
On the seventh day of the hunger strike, Dr. As KC's condition is becoming more complicated, the civil society has demanded to save his life. They staged a silent demonstration in Parkmode saying, 'How long will the government play with people's health? These are not Govind KC's demands, it is the people's demands'. If KC's demands are not met, it is said that a strong protest will be launched.
Dr. KC started a hunger strike in Dhangadhi from last Monday with 7 point demands. Dr. KC has demanded that the immediate capacity upgrade of all the government hospitals which are running with less beds than the capacity as per patient, the capacity upgrade should be increased according to the current number of beds for the improvement of health services. His demand is to ensure the construction, upgrading and quality of government health centers and hospitals according to population growth.
As the constitution ensures free basic health services for all, there are demands of KC that it should be prohibited to charge fees for basic services such as tickets, lab tests, x-rays, etc.
