Dhangadhi: Scrub typhus infection has been confirmed in 28 people in Baitadi. According to the Health Office, the infection has been confirmed in 28 people so far in the current financial year.
According to the office, all local level patients in the district are infected. The number of scrub typhus patients has been increasing here recently. Scrub typhus has been detected during the examination of sick people who came to hospitals and health institutions. People who have not been tested can be infected with scrub typhus, so caution has been requested.
The hospital is now testing every febrile patient for scrub typhus. Health workers have said that water-borne diseases occur when water sources are not clean during the rainy season. During this time, scrub typhus patients are also seen due to the bites of insects such as caterpillars. When cattle are mixed, insect bites are followed by scrub typhus, and scrub typhus can be fatal.
