Nepalese army starts the rescue mission for victims trapped in the flood and landslide in Darchula

Dhangadhi: The helicopter of the Nepalese army has started rescuing the injured people trapped in the flood and landslide after the incessant rains in Darchula last night. Five people were killed in the flood that occurred in Salla village of Naugad rural municipality 2 of the district. Following the instructions of Home Minister Balkrishna Khan, the army helicopter reached the flood-affected area. According to Phanindramani Pokharel, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs, a helicopter that arrived at the scene from Surkhet, the capital of Karnali Province, is carrying out the rescue.

According to him, now the injured have been rescued and brought to District Hospital Khalanga for treatment. Similarly, Darchula police also said that landslides have caused huge damage in Mahakali Municipality and Naugad Rural Municipality. According to the police, 9 people are missing and 8 people are injured in the flood. Five of the injured are in serious condition. Among those who went missing in the flood were Chimdi Thagunna, 35 years old from Naugad Rural Municipality-1, Mahamari Thagunna, 15 years old from the same place, Maniram Luhar, 40 years old from Dallek Naugad-2, Mohan Luhar, 45 years old from Mahakali Municipality-4, Saraswati Luhar, 40 years old from the same place, Mahakali Municipality-3.

According to the police, 55-year-old Dhan Singh Karki, his elder son Deepak Karki, 20, and his younger son Dinesh Karki, 12, of Dungri. Similarly, 75-year-old Manmati Sahu of Mahakali Municipality-2 Mulla has gone missing. Earlier, the police said that the bodies of 32-year-old Janaki Thagunna, 15-year-old Dhanuli Thagunna and 68-year-old Mohanram Parki of Naugad Rural Municipality-2 were found. Similarly, police said that 77-year-old Nandaram Bohra of Mahakali Municipality-2 and 43-year-old Manmati Karki of Ward No. 1 Salla died. The police said that the exact details of the damage are yet to be received as rescue and search operations are ongoing. Teams of Nepali Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police have been deployed at the scene of the incident for rescue operations.
