COVID-19 cases increase in Far-West, tightening of the border area resumes

Baitadi: COVID-19 infection rate has doubled in the Far-Western Province. On Friday, 19 people were reported positive and on Saturday, 32 people were reported positive according to the Sudurpaschim Province Health Directorate.

On analyzing the infection rate of the past two weeks, it has been found that the rate of infected people has doubled by the second week in comparison to the first. In the first week, 56 people tested positive, and in the second week, 113 more people tested positive.

Hemraj Joshi, the COVID-19 contact person of the directorate, informed that the infection rate is increasing in this border province as the infection rate has been increasing regularly in India.

The risk has increased as the infection rate, which had dropped to zero two weeks ago, is currently increasing. The infection rate, which dropped to zero in June, has been increasing. He said, "Risk management work is being done at the border area in accordance to the predetermined program. We are setting up a health desk at the border and mobilizing the necessary manpower for testing and vaccination work to be carried out continuously."

Due to the increased risk in the border area, health checks will be conducted at all the checkpoints here. In addition to this, Joshi said that giving priority to the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 for the prevention and control of the Coronavirus, booster doses are also being given to everyone. Due to the increase in infection rate, the directorate urges to follow the standards of public health compulsorily.

So far, 558,743 people have been tested for COVID-19 in Far-West Province and 59,899 people have reported positive. Due to the infection, there have been 633 fatalities in this province.
