Auto-rickshaw drivers protest in Dhangadhi
Dhangadhi: Autorickshaw drivers are protesting in Dhangadhi. The electric auto rickshaw drivers have started a protest by haulting their services to express discontentment towards the traffic police.
According to the drivers, the Traffic Management Office has not scheduled examinations for licence for new auto drivers, but has instead been collecting fine from them for driving without a permit. They have started a protest against the police by stopping their rickshaws services from Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan office premises to LN Chowk. They started protesting at LN Chowk in the morning and also held a silent demonstration.
They complain that the police have started imposing a fine of Rs. 500 to 1500 on a daily basis from unlicensed auto drivers in Dhangadhi. It is said that discussions between the autorickshaw driver and the Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan are now underway. The Traffic Police has been imposing fine to ensure safety of the passengers as the accidents in the Dhangadhi-Attaria highway are increasing as many passenger have been found not adhering to traffic rules.
