Woman killed in car crash in Kailali

Dhangadhi: A woman who was injured in a car crash in Kailali has died while undergoing treatment. The deceased has been identified as Durpata Upadhyaya, 92, of Tikapur Municipality, Ward No. 1 of the district.

According to the Area Police Office, Tikapur, she died while undergoing treatment at Nepalgunj Nursing Home. According to Office Chief and Superintendent of Police Prakash Sapkota, a Ford vehicle (01 025 Cha 6666) had hit a pedestrian Upadhyaya on December 20.

"Babi Sodari, 25, of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan Ward No. 1, Sivanagar, had agreed to bear the cost of treatment," said DSP Sapkota. "A case has been registered against Sodari in connection with his death after he died while undergoing treatment. Preparations are being made to bring Sodari."

Though the injured woman died on the 11th, Sodari has not been arrested yet. Sodari is the son of Dirgha Soradi, Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development in the Far West.

Ved Prakash Joshi, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Kailali, told Dinesh Khabar that Sodari is currently in Kathmandu. The relatives have said that they will bring him to the police station themselves.
