Das murder case in Kailali: Village closed, body in hospital
Dhangadhi: Locals have closed the village on Thursday saying that the police could not arrest the person involved in the murder case of Arjun Das, 25, of Janaki Rural Municipality-9 of Kailali. The victims have been protesting for eight days demanding life imprisonment for those involved in the murder, declaring the deceased a martyr, providing relief and higher education to the children of the deceased and protection to the family.
According to Lalit Pariyar, coordinator of the struggle committee, they staged a protest in Tikapur on Tuesday and Wednesday. Ward offices of the Rural Municipality have also been closed on Thursday. Arjun Das, who was walking home last Friday evening, was found dead in the local Amaravati Community Forest with his throat slit.
One person involved in the incident has been arrested while three others are absconding, police said. The victim's family has stated that they will not understand the body until legal action and other demands are addressed to those involved in the murder. Arjun's body has been kept at Tikapur Hospital.
