Federation of Nepali Journalists Dadeldhura set up a contingency fund

Dhangadhi: The Federation of Nepali Journalists, Dadeldhura have started constructing an isolation ward with ten beds.

A meeting of the federation held on Thursday decided to make beds in four rooms of the three-storey building. FNJ President Hikmat Bahadur Singh said that the decision was taken to manage risk for the media workers working in the front line during the Coronavirus pandemic.

He said that they will coordination with the local level, government offices, non-governmental organizations and the private sector for the construction of the isolation ward. FNJ Secretary Pushkar Bhandari said that drinking water and electricity facilities have been connected to the FNJ building for isolation and beds will be provided by Friday.

The same meeting also decided to set up a contingency fund. The Coronavirus Pandemic Contingency Fund is being set up to provide medical treatment and assistance to infected journalists. On April 29 the FNJ building was damaged by a dozer under the leadership of Division Forest Office, while the dozer was brought from Amargagadhi Municipality.

Similarly, in the press release signed by FNJ Secretary Bhandari they have demanded for legal actions to be taken against the Division Forest Office for damaging their property without giving a clarification.
