Experts suggest active surveillance to curb the spread of Coronavirus

२०७७ चैत्र ३०, ०५:५४

Dhangadhi: Dr. Baburam Marasini, former director of the epidemiology and disease control division at the central health ministry, said active surveillance and regular monitoring of patients with symptoms of the coronavirus could help prevent the spread of the infection to some extent.

He said that the patients suspected should be examined and monitored regularly. "Regular monitoring to check whether a virus has entered the body is called 'active surveillance'," he told Dinesh Khabar. "Using this method, new types of infections can be prevented from spreading."

However, Dr. Marasani said that none of the central, state and local governments are keen on adopting the method. He said that there is no point of imposing a lockdown without adopting the method to curb the spread of the virus.

Marasini said that the checkpoints should be tightened to control the Coronavirus and testing should increase by collecting samples from places where there are regular crowds such as schools, markets and border checkpoints.
