Polygamy: A case filed against 5 police personnel in Far West
Dhangadhi: Six police officers working in the far west are involved in polygamy cases.
An anonymous complaint has been lodged against two police sub-inspectors and four police constables working at the Far-Western Provincial Police Training Center, Dipayal, for their involvement in a polygamy case.
According to police sources, the complaint was lodged against six persons about 25 days ago but the District Police Office has not taken necessary legal action against them. After the anonymous complaint, Dwarika Ghimire, Deputy Superintendent of Police working at the Far Western Provincial Police Office, took the statement of the accused police officer.
Sources said that statements of his other colleagues were also taken. But the Far-Western Provincial Police Office and the Provincial Training Center have been withholding the information regarding their involvement in the case. Chief of the Far -West, Deputy Inspector General of Police Uttam Raj Subedi has expressed ignorance in this regard.
"In that case, I should have known," said Subedi, a deputy inspector general of police. He said that although there was a case registered for polygamy, there was no evidence against any official as it was going to court.
He said that he was committed to take legal action against the police personnel if they were found to have committed polygamy. There are also cases of financial embezzlement against the accused and other police personnel. However, sources said that no such case has been heard of.
