CM Shah assures proportional budget distribution in Sudurpaschim province

Dhangadhi: Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah has said that a “Budget Suggestion Committee” should be formed, ensuring the participation of all political parties for budget formulation and its effective implementation.

The provincial government, which is preparing the budget for the fiscal year 2083/084, organized an interaction with provincial assembly members in Dhangadhi on Tuesday on policy programs, budget formulation, and implementation. Speaking at the program, Chief Minister Shah stated that the budget will be distributed proportionally throughout the province and urged the formation of a budget suggestion committee with representation from all parties.

He informed that the Nepali Congress parliamentary party meeting has formed a three-member budget suggestion committee under the coordination of Chief Whip Bikram Singh Dhami to provide necessary suggestions to the government. The committee includes Geeta Kumari Chaudhary and Padam Bahadur Shahi.

At the program, Chief Minister Shah directed Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Minister Shivraj Bhatta to formulate plans accordingly, stating that special priority would be given to religious and tourist sites of historical importance. He also directed that no program be implemented through quotation and instructed Chief Secretary Baikantha Aryal to bring employees involved in such practices under action.

“The provincial government will not allocate budget for projects costing less than Rs 2.5 million,” he reiterated. “No project in the province will be implemented through the consumer committee.”

Provincial Assembly members participating in the program suggested that the province should move forward with a common resolve for overall development, allocate sufficient budget in primary sectors such as education, health, agriculture, and tourism, and implement sustainable development plans.
