Dhangadhi locals protest demanding justice to Amrit Singh’s murder
Dhangadhi: Demonstration took place in Chainpur district headquarters and Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan on Tuesday demanding action against those involved in the murder of Amrit Singh of Chhabispathibhera Rural Municipality-3 in Bajhang.
The Nepal Students Union and Tarun Dal Bajhang, which are close to the Nepali Congress, staged a protest against the incident. The protesters have demanded action against the CPN (Maoist) leaders and cadres for killing Singh.
The Nepal Students Union and locals have also closed the district headquarters in Bajhang, demanding action against the CPN (Maoist) leaders and cadres for deliberately killing Singh.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested three more people including the ward chairman in the Amrit Singh’s murder case. Among the arrested are Bikas Adi, Ward Chairman of Chhabispathibhera Rural Municipality-2, his brother Prakash Adi and Kedar Adi of the same place, said Bajhang Deputy Superintendent of Police Khadka. Khadka said that they were arrested from Thalara Rural Municipality. Gyan Bahadur Kadayat of Chhabispathibhera-2 was arrested on Tuesday on the charges of killing Singh. According to the police, Singh was returning home after attending the election for the management committee of Bannichaur Secondry School in Chhabispathibhera Rural Municipality-3 when he was killed in a dispute.
Police said that the ward chairman has also been taken under control for investigation after the ward chairman's government motorcycle was found to be used in Singh’s murder.
Gajendra Dhami, a candidate from the Communist Party of Nepal who was consisting for the management committee election, lost to Lokendra Bohara, a candidate from the Nepali Congress, by 28 votes.
Dhami garnered 149 votes and Bohara garnered 177 votes, said Bajhang Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police Khadka.
According to him, Singh was a supporter of Bijayi Bohara, the chairman of the school management committee.
It is understood that was an ongoing dispute over the formation of a management committee in the school previously.
