llegal construction: Division Forest removes structures built on Forest land, locals of Kailari oppose the demolition

Dhangadhi: The physical infrastructures built at Kailari Rural Municipality ward no.7's Basanta Forest are being demolished by the Division Forest Office, Kailali.

The Division Forest Office used a dozer to demolish buildings built on the encroached forest land on Sunday. However, the process of was obstructed by the locals Of Kailari Rural Municipality.  Chief of the Division Forest Office, Kailali, Ram Chandra Kandel said that the structures of three locals built by encroaching the forest area have been removed.

But the work was stopped due to non-cooperation of the locals, but now the structures will be removed, even by force. After Division Forest started clearing the encroached area, the locals who encroached and built the physical infrastructures locked the ward office on Monday. 

More than 300 locals tried to lock the ward office of Kailari Rural municipality in Hasulia. Ram Din Chaudhary said,  we are flood victims, in the past, the elected people's representatives  promised us  land in this particular place. However, the Division Forest Office has demanded us to vacate the land.  

Chairman of Kailari Rural Municipality Lajuram Chaudhary said that flood-affected people have been living in the area. However, as it is a forest area, he said that he has taken initiative to coordinate with all parties for their exit.

Discussions are underway between the local level people's representatives, Division Forest Office, District Administration Office and the local flood victims.
