Prisoner accused of rape and murder escapes in Doti

A 16-year-old who was in police custody for allegedly raping and murdering a 12-year-old girl in Bajhang was absconding for hours, but he was arrested later.

Rajendra Bohora, 16, who was in police custody on the charge of allegedly murdering and raping a 12-year-old of Mashta Rural Municipality, has escaped, according to Doti Police. Bohora was initially kept at a juvenile detention center and was eventually moved to the isolation ward of District Hospital, Doti.

Spokesperson of the District Police Office, DSP Indra Bahadur Malla informed Dineshkhabar that he escaped from the isolation ward of the District Hospital Doti. According to him, Bohora was shifted to the isolation ward after he reported positive for Coronavirus. Bohora was arrested on charges of raping and killing a girl in the month of Ashoj.

He was remanded in custody by the district court for trial. But due to his age, Bohora was kept in a juvenile detention center. According to the police Bohara previously raped a 14-year-old girl of the same village before raping and killing the 12-year-old.

The incident was only brought to limelight after he was arrested. Police had arrested eight people for being allegedly involved in the rape case of the 14-year-old girl. However, they have been released on bail.
