Ward office locked by the locals in Kanchanpur

Krishnapur: Krishnapur Municipality Ward No. 9’s people representative have been accused of misusing the relief provided by NEEDS Nepal Kanchanpur for the poor.

Local Durgesh Sawad has accused the ward office of distributing the relief to the affluent people close to the people's representatives.He said that the people's representatives have done injustice to the deprived community by providing relief to the bereaved families. According to Sawad, the ward office was first locked on October 27. However, the ward office forcibly broke the lock but, the locals succeeded in locking it again on Friday.  

However, ward chairperson Chhatra Mahara has claimed that all the targeted communities would get relief. "It is not possible to distribute relief to everyone in a ward comprising of 1,500 households. Only 223 households could have acquired Rs 13,500 provided by NEEDS Kanchanpur.

While the locals want all the families to receive it. How is that possible?” Bhavaraj Regmi, chief of NEEDS Nepal Kanchanpur, also said that the relief amount Rs 13,500  was distributed to 223 needy households as selected by the ward office. He also said that the selection of beneficiaries was done by the ward office itself.
