Natural disaster management plan to be implemented to curb river erosion and inundation

In Kailali, A natural disaster management plan has been prepared as incessant rains have caused heavy loss of life and property in different parts of the country. The District Administration Office, Kailali, has passed a disaster response plan along with the District Disaster Management Committee.

Chief District Officer Yagya Raj Bohara, who is also the coordinator of the District Disaster Management Committee, said that the responsibilities have been divided by forming different clusters for disaster response.

According to Prajia Bohara, rescue and relief programs have been prepared for the victims of natural calamities. He said that the local levels of the district have been requested to prepare for the disaster by preparing a disaster response plan by identifying river crossings and inundation areas to help in keeping the people living in those areas in a safe place.

In Kailali, settlements near Bhajani Municipality, Tikapur Municipality, Joshipur Municipality, Karnali River, Mohana River and Kandra River of Kailari Municipality are at risk of river erosion and inundation, according to the local administration.

As the water level is being measured in various rivers and streams in the district, it appealed to be vigilant as the flow had increased. But now the flow of water in all the rivers is normal, said Chief District Officer Bohara.
