Guidelines and procedures formulated for corpse management in case of death due to Coronavirus
According to the guidelines and procedures formulated by the Ministry of Health and Population for corpse management. The body should be wrapped in a cloth and sent to the mortuary before disinfecting it. Dead bodies should be sealed in special bags. COVID-19 tested bodies cannot be used for any other medical experiments. If a post mortem is conducted, it should be performed in a well-ventilated room wearing a PPE.
Clean and disinfect all surfaces. The body should be managed for funeral rites as soon as possible. Pipes, injections and catheters should be removed from the body, no autopsies to be conducted, and holes in the body to be sealed with the help of tapes.
A funeral should be performed on the basis of the religion followed by the deceased. Those attending the funeral need to wear masks, gloves, glasses, visors, and PPE. There should be no physical contact made with the body. Emergency ambulances to be used to transport the deceased to the funeral center, people above the age of 60 are prohibited to participate in the funeral.
Attendees of the funeral must maintain a distance of one meter. All the rituals like the offering of garlands, flowers, and sprinkling water to be performed without coming in direct contact with the body. Family members can take a look at the body one by one. The driver and staff of the hearse must wear personal safety equipment (PPE) before touching the body
