Cyclist killed in an accident, locals demand justice

The locals of Baunia have blocked the East-West Highway after a cyclist was killed in a bus crash in Kailali. After the death of 25-year-old Saraswati Upadhyaya, of Bardagoria village in the district, locals protested by blocking the highway. They demand compensation to the victim's family and actions to be taken against the culprit.

Upadhyaya, who was riding a bicycle, was hit by a bus (Na 7 Kha 930) coming from Lamki to Dhangadhi this afternoon. She was critically injured in the accident and died while undergoing treatment at Maya Metro Hospital, Dhangadhi. Pratik Bista, Spokesperson of the District Police Office and Deputy Superintendent of Police, said that tear gas was fired to control the crowd after the police were pelted with stones.
