Rukum's Chaurjahari incident: Demonstration in Dhangadhi demanding action against the culprit

Dhangadhi: Dalit communities across the country have been agitated after the government's indifference towards the killing of five people and the disappearance of one person over an issue of inter-caste marriage in Chaurjahari, West Rukum last Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Rastriya Dalit Journalists Association-Nepal Far-Western Provincial Committee has staged a symbolic candlelight vigil in Dhangadhi on Saturday to find a ‘absent government’ -
"Where is the government in the dark?" .The National Dalit Journalist’s Association (NDJA) has lit a candle at Park Chowk in Dhangadhi to draw the governments attention to the incident in West Rukum 

Addressing the program, National Dalit Journalists Association Far-Western States President Rama Bhattarai Jairu said that the ethnic untouchability-free nation mentioned in the constitution was being mocked by the Chaurajahari incident. ‘The government's silence on the genocide, which has not even taken into account the general humanitarian sentiments, is an attack on the self-esteem of the entire Dalit community. Therefore, the government should conduct an impartial investigation into the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice, and the government should be vigilant to prevent such inhumane incidents, ”she said.
