A rescue operation was launched as Nepalese working in India lost their jobs since the lockdown. Many of them were unable to enter Nepal as both the nations imposed a lockdown at the same time and closed the borders.

858 workers were rescued from Gauriphanta on Wednesday and 2,498 on Thursday in coordination with the local administration. No one was tested on Wednesday, while only 600 were tested on Thursday for Coronavirus.

Shivaraj Joshi, information officer at the District Administration Office, Kailali, said, “More than 600 Nepalis have been rescued today by 2 pm.

The rescue operation is ongoing, we are preparing to send them to their respective municipalities.”

Due to lack of rapid test kits, they are being sent to their municipalities without being screened for Coronavirus.
