The risk of Coronavirus has increased in the Far West region of Nepal as more than thousands of people returned from India after India announced a lockdown to control the spread of Coronavirus. Since cases of Coronavirus were reported much earlier in India the returnees from India are more at risk to be infected.

CDO of Dadeldhura, Jagannath Pant said,” Since there are seven rural municipalities in Dadheldhura we have made eight quarantine facilities. Out of 150 returnees from different countries, we have quarantined 71 individuals. A Coronavirus Rapid Response Team has been formed at every local level in Dadeldhura.”

CDO of Doti, Teknarayan Poudel said” We still don’t have trained medical professionals to swab. However, we have quarantined all 305 returnees from India and other countries in 16 different quarantine centers, three of them showed some symptoms and their samples were collected, but the reports were negative."

According to Ganga Prasad Neupane of Bajura," There are 15 isolation beds in total and hundreds of returnees from India are kept in quarantine. Since there is no hospital in Bajura each patient has to travel two hours away from the village to get medical assistance. Therefore, a Coronavirus Rapid Response Team has been formed to take patients to the hospital. While we’ve encouraged everyone to go for a check-up at their local health posts situated in their rural municipalities."
