Two Arrested in Dhangadhi for Possessing Goods Smuggled from India

Dhangadhi: Two individuals have been arrested in Dhangadhi for possessing goods that were smuggled from India by evading customs duties.

Ranjana Rana, 36, a resident of Manehara in Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-7, Kailali, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon. A police team deployed from the District Police Office, Kailali, took her into custody after completing the necessary procedures. She was found hiding goods, including suit pieces, chunnis (scarves), and other clothing, at her home. The items had been illegally brought from India by evading customs, with their estimated value standing at NPR 353,000.

Similarly, Jivan Dhungana, 45, a resident of Triveni Ghat in Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-1, Kailali, was arrested with smuggled goods. A police team from the District Police Office, Kailali, took him into custody on Wednesday night after completing the necessary procedures. He was found hiding items, including tent curtains, at his home. The items had been illegally brought from India by evading customs, with their estimated value standing at NPR 270,000.
