Landslide Destroys One House, Puts 10 Others at Risk in Purchaudi

Baitadi: A landslide has completely destroyed a house in Lamuni village, Ward No. 8 of Purchaudi Municipality, Baitadi. The landslide descended from above the house at around 9 PM on Monday, burying the home of Ganesh Datta Joshi of Gairagaun.

According to Police Inspector Bhuwan Prasad Timilsena, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Baitadi, no human casualties occurred as the family managed to evacuate the house in time. Following the complete destruction of their home, the Joshi family is currently sheltering at a relative’s house.

Ten goats that had been buried in a shed by the landslide were rescued alive with the help of the police, the Armed Police Force, and local residents. Police have stated that the entire village is now at high risk due to the landslide.

The homes of locals Raghunath Joshi, Baldev Joshi, Dattaram Joshi, Parmananda Joshi, Chandradev Joshi, Hiraprasad Joshi, Padmaraj Joshi, Kashi Bhandari, Dattaraj Joshi, and Ambadatta Joshi are at high risk.

Police have urged the families at risk to relocate to a safe area.
