Wild Elephants Destroy Two Houses in Shuklaphanta

Mahendranagar: A herd of wild elephants destroyed two houses today in Pillariphanta, located in Ward No. 8 of Shuklaphanta Municipality, Kanchanpur.

Local resident Niraj Japrel reported that the herd demolished the homes of Surya Chaudhary and Mahesh Nepal. He added that the elephants are still in the nearby Baijanath Community Forest. Residents are living in fear after the elephants entered the settlement and began destroying houses.

Lakshmiraj Joshi, a forest officer at the Division Forest Office in Kanchanpur, stated that surveillance in the area has been stepped up in coordination with the local administration. He added that they are coordinating with Shuklaphanta National Park authorities and security agencies to drive the elephants away.
