National Assembly members urge government to address cooking gas shortage

Kathmandu: Members of the National Assembly have urged the government to address the shortage of cooking gas, saying citizens are facing difficulties in arranging meals due to the lack of gas.

During the zero hour of Wednesday’s National Assembly meeting, member Bishnu Devi Pudasaini called on the government to resolve the problem. Member Krishna Prasad Adhikari urged the government to strictly monitor the market to control black marketing resulting from an artificial shortage of cooking gas.

Member Ghanashyam Rijal demanded the release of senior journalist Kishor Shrestha, who was unexpectedly arrested. Member Padam Bahadur Pariyar stressed the need to resolve problems caused by changes in the flow of the Seti River during the construction of the Tanahun Hydro.

Member Rukmini Koirala expressed grief over the deaths of six Nepalis, including Nirmal Purja, who died while climbing a mountain in Pakistan, along with three others. Member Renu Chand drew the government’s attention to the problems faced by victims of the Kanchanpur reservation, saying the issue remains unresolved despite the formation of three dozen commissions.

Member Bishnu Kumari Sapkota demanded the formulation of a house and room rental policy in Kathmandu Valley to regulate rents for houses and dormitories. Member Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma protested the arrests of locals of Narharinath Rural Municipality in Kalikot district on Wednesday.
