Kailali administration holds talks on removing encroachment of public land
Kailali: The District Administration Office Kailali has held discussions with stakeholders regarding the identification and removal of encroached government and public land.
Following a circular issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs a week ago, instructions were given to prepare a plan to identify and remove encroached government and public land in the district and submit it to the Home Ministry for approval. Upon approval, the ministry has also directed that necessary security arrangements be made for the removal process.
In line with the circular, the District Administration Office Kailali conducted discussions with representatives of political parties and local-level people’s representatives.
After the discussion, Assistant Chief District Officer Kiran Joshi said it was agreed that the process of removing risky settlements and structures that have become obstacles to development in certain areas would be taken forward. According to her, the administration will handle the necessary security arrangements.
Meanwhile, local-level people’s representatives expressed the view that citizens living on unregistered land cannot be removed immediately. They stated that while the state has the responsibility to manage such settlements, immediate displacement is not feasible.
