Driving license printing accelerated, 40,000 cards produced daily
Kathmandu: The printing of driving licenses is continuing at a fast pace across the country. According to Devraj Dhungana, Executive Director of the Security Printing Center, around 40,000 licenses are currently being printed daily.
He stated that license printing has been given high priority, with a target to complete the remaining 2.9 million licenses by mid-Ashar 2083 BS. Out of this, 1.2 million licenses are planned to be printed by the upcoming Baisakh 12, while the printing process for the remaining 1.7 million licenses is also being carried out rapidly.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Bikram Timilsina, has directed the Security Printing Center to ensure there is no disruption in the printing process and to complete all pending licenses as soon as possible. The ministry has also prioritized this issue in its detailed action plan, which includes 10 major reform programs aimed at making the governance management system more result-oriented.
Following the decision of the Council of Ministers on Chaitra 13, the action plan has been implemented with the objective of making public service delivery citizen-friendly, fast, transparent, and technology-friendly.
Meanwhile, to facilitate service recipients, the Department of Transport Management has begun publishing daily updates on printed and distributed licenses through its website. This initiative is expected to help individuals easily track the status of their licenses.
Additionally, arrangements have been made to deliver printed licenses promptly to transport offices across the country through postal services, making the distribution process more systematic. If the current pace continues, the long-standing issue of license distribution is expected to be resolved in the near future.
