Kathmandu: Newly appointed Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has urged an end to the practice of causing inconvenience to citizens in the name of ‘VIP convoys’.

While addressing ministry officials after assuming office at the Home Ministry today, he emphasized that meaningful change should begin internally. Minister Gurung, who led the Genji movement, reiterated his earlier stance that ministerial service facilities should be revoked and that the practice of disrupting public movement for VIP convoys should be stopped. He also noted that he had dedicated parliamentary facilities to the public and personally arrived at the ministry in a private vehicle.

“The ‘VIP Movement’ has been creating difficulties at the civil level. Citizens should not suffer in this process. I urge all ministers not to engage in such practices,” he said.

After taking office, Minister Gurung also announced that services provided by the ministry and its subordinate bodies would be streamlined through a single-door system. The decision was made in the presence of families of those killed and injured during the Gen z movement.

He further stated that a task force comprising representatives from various ministries would be formed to ensure state support and facilities for the families of the martyrs and those injured in the Gen z movement.
